The spot where information about information lives

Seattle Times Update

At the most recent meeting of the Washington Public Libraries Cooperate (WPLC) we discussed the dilemna that we’re facing with the loss of the Seattle Times in the ProQuest database package.  Newsbank, the company that now owns the rights to reproduce the newspaper in database and microfilm format, is talking with the Washington State Library about a group subscription price, but this is very early in the process.  We currently have access to the Newsbank product, but that will most likely stop next month.  After that, we will have to rely on either microfilm (available at Lynnwood and Snohomish) or the Seattle Times website, which contains an archive of their news stories from 1990 to present.  This can be found at http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/
