The Wood Database

Just when you think that you’ve seen it all, something like this comes along.  The Wood Database was designed by Eric Meier, whose initial RTF document in 2007 has turned into this very useful tool.

By looking and learning about different woods, any woodworker or crafts-person can quickly and easily ascertain which woods to use for which projects — whether your selection criteria is based on color, grain pattern, strength, dimensional stability, durability, etc.

This is amazing! I have a couple of cousins who were cabinet makers and contractors before they retired. (One used to rehab painted ladies in San Francisco.) This database would totally convince them that computers aren’t so bad.
